Differential cross sections for the elastic scattering of alpha particles by 16 O have been measured at laboratory angle of 176° as a function of incident energy in the range 20 to 24.5 MeV. Six resonances have been observed. Angular distributions have been measured at eight energies. Tentative spin and parity assignments of the compound 20 Ne nucleus have been made.
