Based on the technique of providing spin-oriented radioactive-isotope beams (RIBs) produced in the projectile-fragmentation (PF) reaction, systematic ground-state nuclear-moment measurements of far-unstable nuclei have so far been conducted at the RIKEN RIBF facility. The measurement has been extended to their isomeric states, taking advantage of extremely high intensity RIBs available with the BigRIPS RI separator. Furthermore, significant progress was achieved in the technique of the spin-aligned RIB production. Here, two-step PF reaction was utilized in combination with the dispersion-matching technique. Beside nuclear-moment measurements, this technique was also applied to the β-delayed neutron and γ-ray spectroscopy, where the spins and parities of excited states connected through the Gamow-Teller β decay of a spin-polarized parent nucleus were identified though the determination of β-decay asymmetry parameters. This article describes recent progresses related to the spin-oriented RIBs at RIBF.
